If You've Been Wondering.........

Frequently Asked Questions
We've been getting questions about the fundraising, so decided to post the answers here.
If you want to know more, just send us your concern or question and we'll get it answered.

How much of my donation actually gets to the project?
Your entire donation goes to the project, as in 100%!   All administrative costs are being donated, so those of you worried that we've created a bureaucracy here, don't worry.   Again, all your money goes to Guatemala.   Once there, the Mountain School and PLQ also cover administrative costs and aren't skimming any off the top.

Why can't I send you a check?
You can.   Please go through our donation site though so that we can keep our recordkeeping simple and straightforward.   Plus you'll get an instant receipt for the donation.   On the Check Out screen, under Payment Method, select Invoice rather than credit card.   You'll receive an email that you can print out and mail with your check, and then keep a copy as your receipt.

Why don't you offer PayPal as an option?
Although we have someone willing to cover our administrative costs, there is a limit to how much we want to incur.   Using PayPal means additional costs and additional work for us.   Maybe when this becomes an enormous success it will be time to expand to PayPal, but for now we're trying to make this a low-cost and streamlined effort.

How about us in Europe - are our donations tax deductible?
We need an organization in each country that can handle your donations, and we don't have any leads to pursue.   If you know of an organization or bank that will handle funds for us, let us know.   Until then, you'll have to donate because you believe in the cause, and are willing to enjoy your own pat on the back.

Can I donate when I'm down at the escuela?
Yes you can, the coordinator of the school, Juliette, will be glad to take your money.   However, if you are a U.S. resident and want a tax deduction, send your donation through us.

Will you take me off your mailing list please?
Sure, this is a no-obligation group.   Every email we send out has information at the bottom of the message on how to unsubscribe, and all it takes is one click.   If everything works right, you should never hear from us again (but if you ever have second thoughts, you can always come visit our web site).
